In the summertime, it seems as if fleas are all over the place. Thankfully, you’ll be able to find an abundance of flea treatments pretty easily. One common product is pyrethrin which is safe to use as an insecticide. Another choice is IGR, or insect growth regulators, like methoprene and fenoxycarb which will stop eggs and larvae from becoming pupae. When using these and other treatments, treat both the gun dogs and his areas simultaneously.

A flea’s life span can range from 2 weeks to 8 months. Because the pupa is wrapped within the protection of a cocoon, insecticides will not affect them one bit. This is why they are extremely difficult to kill, and also the reason why pet owners experience another flea outbreak just 2 weeks for the first treatment. As the pupa stage ends and the adult flea develops, you are left in the same position you began.

Flea Baths
Using a regular flea prevention shampoo can help with flea control. One thing to be careful about though is flea dips – especially if you have children in the house. Flea dips are very harsh and most leave a residue on your dog – they’re only recommended in cases of very extreme infestation and should be discussed with your veterinarian before use.

Spot On Medications
These flea medications are dispensed between the shoulder blades. This is a once a month treatment. All brands kill adult fleas. Some prevent the growth of eggs and larvae as well. Puppies have to be at least 8 weeks old for use. Bathing and swimming lowers this medications potency.

Pill Flea Treatment
Pills treat fleas for 1 month. It’s works like flea birth control. Fleas bite your dog and become sterilized. They die without laying eggs and soon you have no fleas. This medication can’t be washed off and is perfect for indoor pets.

Natural Methods
Not everyone likes to use chemicals for flea control purposes. If this is the case, you should vacuum thoroughly as often as possible. In addition to carpets, vacuum furniture, pillows, and bedding. Properly discard the bag, or burn it, right away. Secondly, you should wash everything in the hot water cycle. Lastly, use dried pennyroyal, diactomaceous earth, or pyretthrum powder. Apply it on pet bedding and underneath cushions and mattresses. However, don’t use pennyroyal if your dog is pregnant. Repeat this process every few days.

Clean from inside out
Pet bedding, furniture, cushions, and thick carpets are fleas’ havens. Before treatment, always vacuum everything and everywhere in your home. Then, burn or properly discard vacuum bags immediately. Fleas love dust and hair, so this is important. It’s also important to wash all pet clothing and bedding in hot water. Insecticides are most effective on young, immature fleas.

In the outdoors, fleas usually stay in wet and shaded places like dog houses or kennels, flower beds, and underneath your deck or porch. If your pet spends time in these or other areas, treat the area. Also, rake and mow the lawn completely to keep fleas away. Rake up leaves from flower beds and beneath bushes to make insecticides more effective in these areas. Clean all pet kennels or carriers and make sure you vacuum the inside of your car. Garages, basements, and other rooms without carpeting should be mopped completely to kill flea larvae creeping in the cracks and crevices.

You can also choose a fogger or spray for your home, yard, and other areas, as they are very effective. You may need to repeat treatment in areas of severe infestation, usually every 2 or 3 weeks.

Fleas can be a nuisssance to both humans and pets. Flea bites can be very itchy and cause skin problems, and even hair loss or infection. Even worse, a very bad flea problem can also cause anemia and tapeworms. As well, flea allergy to lead to dermititis. For these reasons, killing fleas is very important. By following the advice above, your pets and your home can remain free of fleas.

Although there are many disadvantages to modern life, one of the most advantageous is that abandoned pets have a better chance than ever finding the forever homes they deserve. This is all due to the magic of the Internet. If you do not have computer access, check and see if a friend who has a computer or if your local library will let you borrow theirs. Going online is the fastest way to find Poodle rescue groups for your new best friend.

There are other ways to find good Poodle rescue groups as well. It is good to put out the word that you are looking to adopt a Poodle type dog to as many sources as possible. You can check with your vet, your employer’s news bulletins (which sometimes list pets that need new homes), your local animal shelter and even with fellow church members who might know of a good local Poodle rescue.
Finding a Poodle rescue group has never been easier. First off, you can ask your local animal shelter if they know of any in the area. You could also ask your vet’s office workers if they know. If you know any Poodle breeders or owners that have rescue Poodles, ask them for a recommendation. You can also look up Poodle rescue groups in Poodle publications, ask the Poodle Club of America or even in national all-breed dog magazines.

But the easiest way to find a good Poodle rescue group is to go online. You can go to Petfinder.com or 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com to find pets of all breeds and species that need a home in your area. Perhaps there are other dogs that catch your eye that are in desperate need of a loving home. But considering how popular Poodles are, the odds of you finding a number of Poodles up for adoption near you is very high.
You can find Poodles closer to your home by entering your zip code into any box that asks you for it. Even if you find a Poodle rescue group in your state, they will not want to subject one of their dogs to a six-hour car ride if you live on the other side of the state. Check neighboring states or state you are close to the border of to see if a closer Poodle rescue group might be elsewhere.

Keep in mind that adopting a Poodle (or any dog) takes a long time and a few hundred dollars in adoption fees. Sometimes just being able to enter the initial application has a non-refundable fee. These fees not only keep the Poodle rescue group going, but also weed out those who might want to get a Poodle on impulse (which is how most of the Poodles would up there in the first place!). It is still much cheaper than buying from a Poodle breeder.

Some of the greatest unsung heroes are volunteers for Poodle rescue groups. There would be fewer abandoned Poodles if people learned basic Poodle information before buying a puppy.

Owners are proud of their dogs and Shih Tzu owners are no exception. The Shih Tzu is more prone to being a little bit of a ham so many people get Shih Tzu dogs because they love to get their picture taken. There are some good ways, and some bad ways, to go about getting Shih Tzu pictures and all of it revolves around knowing your dog and understanding the tendencies of the breed as well.

The first thing you want to do is to make your dog feel at ease by playing with your dog, petting your dog, and just generally making the dog feel comfortable. If you will be using a pedestal to get pictures then put the dog on the pedestal and praise it profusely for sitting there and stop praising it when it gets down. Shih Tzu dogs are smart and after a while they will catch on to what you are trying to tell them.
The next step in Shih Tzu pictures is getting the dog used to any costumes or accessories you may be putting on it and you do that by starting the grooming process. This all needs to be done otherwise you will confuse your dog, so do not start grooming until the dog is comfortable in the studio. Once it is comfortable you should start brushing the dog right away and praising it as you do. You can then start to add any accessories slowly so the dog understands and keep praising it the whole time.

Remember that a Shih Tzu won’t do what it does not want to do regardless of what you want so while praising and reinforcement will work most of the time it will not work if the dog is very set against something. Do not force your Shih Tzu to do one or two things you want it to do because then it will stop responding for the whole session. Cut your losses and take what the dog will give you.
Your dog is comfortable and you have gone through everything you wanted to do with the Shih Tzu pictures and your dog has approved or denied everything and it is time to start shooting. Shih Tzu dogs hate noise and commotion. The less people at the shoot the better and the less noise and running around there is the better. One wrong noise can ruin the whole thing. Or if the dog gets spooked by someone running then it is done for the day, so be careful.

Your Shih Tzu will refuse to do some things and probably give you a hard time with other things but in the end you will have your pictures and then you can share them with the world. You have your own little spoiled model on your hands so treat them like you would a person and everything should be fine and the pictures should turn out beautifully.

You can find helpful advice on taking Shih Tzu pictures in this article. You will find valuable Shih Tzu information in this article.

If you have ever brought a new puppy home from the shelter or a breeder, you understand how essential it is to get that tiny ball of fur toilet trained as quickly as possible. But potty training a puppy usually takes patience, consistency and – of course, time. The great news is that the more time you are prepared to commit to the process at the beginning, the less time your puppy may take to learn his lessons well. Remember, before you bring your puppy home, prepare well for the process, and you and your puppy will be on the right path to a long, happy life together.

The Advantages of Crate Training
Many puppy owners have become quite partial to crate training as a means of housebreaking a puppy, and with good reason. A crate can perform a multitude of functions for your puppy. First, it will offer a secure place for your dog to rest and sleep. Secondly, confining your puppy to the crate when you are out ensures that your home will still be in one piece upon your return. And finally, using a crate for toilet training your puppy will teach your dog to hold his urge to eliminate until he is in the proper location to do so. Most dogs will not eliminate in their crate because they know not to go to the bathroom in the same space that they sleep in.

Before placing your puppy in his crate for a period of time, you must make sure that he has time outside to potty. When you let your puppy out of the crate, you should always take him outdoors straight away. A crate can be a valuable training tool when you are away from home, or if you are involved in an activity for a period of time that will keep you from watching your puppy adequately.

Never forget that puppies should not be left in a crate all day, although they can sleep in one throughout the night. If you work all day, try to come home for lunch to give your dog a break, or have someone else come by your home to do so.

Paper Training
Paper training does not mean using a rolled newspaper to swat your dog when he potties in the house. That is actually the most ineffective means of toilet training a puppy that there is. Paper training actually refers to indoor puppy potty training, where you teach your dog to go to the bathroom on papers or training pads that you put on the floor for him. This method of potty training for puppies is usually best done when you can restrict the puppy to a single room in the house, like the kitchen. Whenever you see your dog start to nose around the floor like he is looking for a spot, take your puppy to the paper potty. When he gets this process down, move the papers closer to the door. With time your pet will learn to go to the door when he needs to go to the bathroom.

Puppy potty training
Potty training your puppy may be challenging, but it is far from impossible. With a bit of patience and consistency, your puppy potty training will succeed much more quickly than you might think possible.

The Black German Shepherd has retained the more traditional look of a German Shepherd through the years. This is one of the main differences between the Black German Shepherd and the regular German Shepherd. The Black German Shepherd is also larger with a much straighter back and it does not “cringe”. Cringing is an appearance that is common to German Shepherds. The coat of a Black German Shepherd can be long or short. It can also have feathering and skirting with a flowing mane.

These dogs are very good-nature dogs and are very loyal to their owners. They very rarely ever back down and are very self-assured and watchful dogs. Their training should begin when they are at a young age, as these dogs are very trainable. Hip and elbow dysplasia is a concern among Black German Shepherds and a careful watch for this is important for the dog owner.
A Black German Shepherd is a great dog in which to make an investment. These dogs run between eight hundred and one thousand dollars, but are well worth the investment. The darker the coat color and the more luxurious it is, the more expensive the dog will be. Black German Shepherds are the most popular dog in Australia and the Australians don’t think twice before buying one of these dogs. The Black German Shepherd should be easy to find by checking the Internet for reputable breeders. They are plentiful and their litters run up to ten pups each.

In order to keep your Black German Shepherd healthy you must groom and exercise him regularly. Because of its large size, the Black German Shepherd cannot be confined to a small yard. He needs a large area in which to run and play and regular walking and training. His grooming schedule will depend on the length of his coat and how often he plays in the mud. But normally, bathing should be monthly and brushing should be weekly.
The Black German Shepherd dog is a highly intelligent dog and should be trained accordingly. These dogs want to be trained because they want to please their owners. Because of their stable and good temperament Black German Shepherds have been used as police dogs, customs dogs, disability aid dogs, correctional services dogs, obedience dogs and companion animals. These dogs are fabulous pets and are hard working dogs. They can be used in almost any environment because they are so versatile and obedient. They can be trained to do almost anything. They are great with children as long as they are given their boundaries with small children. They are very protective of the children in their home and make great watchdogs. What can’t this dog do? He is characteristically one of the best dogs on the planet and should be listed as number on the breed list as man’s best friend.

One of the most valued German Shepherd types is the Black German Shepherd. German Shepherd information is very plentiful on the Internet and will help you locate a Black German Shepherd.
